New Fall Foliage Leaf Hunt Clues for 2024| 03:01PM / Friday, October 04, 2024 | |
 NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The annual Fall Foliage Leaf Hunt, a traditional and popular feature that kicks off Fall Foliage Festival Week, starts today, Saturday, Sept 28. This year the committee has revealed that there will be 11 colorful leaves hidden in Adams, Cheshire, North Adams, and Williamstown. When a leaf is found, it should be brought to the Office of Tourism at North Adams City Hall during normal business hours to claim a prize. One prize per household please.  To the Editor:
It was brought to my attention that a claim I referenced in my previous letter to the editor was not accurate in my representation of it. However innocuous my intention was, it still mischaracterized the arguments that were made regarding the number of studies utilized. And, beyond that, I realized making the case for the school using the quotes of others was unnecessary. There are a plethora of good faith and factual reasons to support the school project, and I will continue to work with those at the forefront.
Reflecting on my own experiences in the North Adams Public School system, it's easy to reminisce about my time at Greylock Elementary over a decade ago.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The new owners of Meng's Pan-Asian are being ordered to get recertified on food safety standards after city inspectors found violations at the Main Street restaurant. Code Enforcement Officer Heather DeMarsico asked the Board of Health on Wednesday to require them to retake the ServSafe training and tests. ServSafe is a program of the National Restaurant Association that sets standards for safe food handling and restaurant management.  To the Editor: The most recent U.S. Census data on record indicates that North Adams experienced a population decline of 26 people from 2019 to 2022, averaging a difference less than 7 people per year. However, one major point the new Greylock opponents argue is that the school population will be cut in half, with several hundred fewer students over the next decade. They claim that only one elementary school will be needed, negating the necessity of investing in a second school. Despite where they get their numbers, their projected enrollment figures do not align with the Census data showing a minute population decline the past few years.
