Millers, Thunder Win Berkshire Adult Baseball League Titles

The Berkshire Thunder and GB Millers each swept their way to Berkshire Adult Baseball League titles over the weekend.   At Wahconah Park on Sunday, the Thunder edged the Dalton Moneymakers, 6-5, to wrap up their best-of-three championship series in the 33-and-over division of the BABL.   The Thunder, which won the opener, 6-1, on Saturday, got a strong pitching performance from three different players in Game 2.   Joe Bateman, Cory Hillard and Seamus Morrison combined to allow just two earned runs in the title clincher.   Hillard got the win with four innings of work in relief, scattering four hits and allowing all five runs -- three unearned as the Thunder committed

Berkshire Adult Baseball League Playoffs Continue Wednesday

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Aaron Ricci went 4-for-4 with three RBIs Saturday to lead the Berkshire Thunder to victory over Tunnel City Freight as the Thunder stayed unbeaten in the Berkshire Adult Baseball League’s 33-and-over division.   Berkshire improved to 13-0 this summer and completed a two-game season sweep of second-place Tunnel City (9-4) in a game called in the top of the sixth inning due to rain with the Thunder leading, 9-0.   Six of those runs came in that sixth inning in a steady downpour.   After losing his grip on a pitch that sailed far behind the batter, Tunnel City player/manager Mike Cirullo decided to put an end to the contest.   Berkshire,

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Mike Jensen and Jack Niedringhaus Monday combined on a one-hitter to lead the Valley Blue Sox to a 10-0 win over the North Adams SteepleCats in the Cats' home finale.   Aedan Forde had the lone hit for North Adams.   Nick Balcom took the loss on the mound despite allowing no earned runs in five innings of work.   He left with a 2-0 deficit after five innings after giving up two of the five unearned runs generated by the Blue Sox.   North Adams (13-30) finishes the season at Danbury, Conn., on Tuesday.

FORT EDWARD, N.Y. -- The Greylock Thunder 14U travel softball team went 1-1 on Saturday at the Titans Fastpitch Tournament.   The Thunder, which started the tournament with a 5-0 win over Clifton Park's Miss Shen Storm on Friday, earned a 6-5 win over the South Troy Dodgers on Saturday morning.   Marlee Arnhold struck out 10, walked none and allowed three earned runs in a complete-game, five-inning effort against South Troy.   Her offense gave her six runs in the top of the fifth inning to erase a 4-0 deficit and take the lead for good.   The Thunder scored all six runs with two outs in the inning.   Lydia Gaudreau hit a two-run triple to get Greylock on the
