NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Matthew Griffin struck out 12 and overcame a rough start to earn a complete game 11-5 win for the North End Dodgers in the opening game of the La Festa Baseball Exchange against North Adams at Joe Wolfe Field on Saturday. Joe Brienze went 2-for-3 with a pair of doubles and two runs batted in to pace the Dodgers, who overcame a 5-0 deficit after two innings. The two teams will meet again on Sunday morning at 10:30 before the scene shifts to Boston in two weeks for the annual trip east for the North Adams squad.  A new addition on the lower level will house the Edda Hyde Community Cat Center for treating feral felines. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — The Berkshire Humane Society has launched a "Forever Family" campaign to expand its space at 214 Barker Road and its service to animals. The initiative aims to raise $3.5 million for three key priorities: to create an endowment to serve the community, to expand and update the facility, and invest in programs for furry friends. So far, about $2.2 million has been raised. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Traffic Commission is recommending a parking event fee of $40 a day after Solid Sound Weekend in May pulled in some $11,000 for the city. Chair MaryAnn King said the focus would be on St. Anthony's Municipal Parking Lot and for events at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.
