MCLA Men's Lacrosse Falls at Home

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- The Anna Maria men's lacrosse team jumped out to an early 7-2 lead and went on to a 20-13 win over MCLA on Saturday.   Nathan Haley, a former standout for Hoosac Valley, scored five goals for MCLA, which also got a goal from fellow Drury graduate Neil Brierley.   Boden Dock made 12 saves for the Trailblazers.   MCLA (0-2) goes to SUNY Purchase on Wednesday.

North Adams Regional Hospital Community Open House

North Adams Council Asked to Endorse Paint Stewardship Program

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – The City Council Tuesday heard an appeal to add the city's name to a growing list of communities supporting a paint stewardship program for the commonwealth.   Tom Irwin of Dalton made the Steeple City his latest stop in a campaign to drum up support for the program, which would fund paint recycling through a $1 per gallon fee charged at the point of sale.   Irwin explained that the paint stewardship program, already implemented in Connecticut, New York and Vermont, would be one way to address Massachusetts' trash surplus.   And it could be a model for future programs to more efficiently dispose of other waste.   Irwin told the

MassDOT Funds Additional Projects at North Adams Airport

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — MassDOT agreed to fund a few additional Airport Safety and Maintenance Projects (ASMP) at the North Adams Airport within the current fiscal year.   Stantec Engineer Peter Enzien told the airport commission Tuesday, Feb 20 that the city will profit from some large MassDOT projects that have been delayed until fiscal year 2025.   "I thought this was all good news," said Commissioner Marc Morandi. FALMOUTH, Mass. — Ronald Nasif served his country in the Naval Reserve for 30 years, retiring as a commander.    Growing up in Boston, he majored in biology at Boston College, where he also lettered in football for the Eagles. He would go on to Tufts Medical School but took a year off graduate school and taught during the busing crisis of the 1970s.   "[Grad school] was always a challenge. North Adams Airport Hangar Still Unfinished

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Without electricity, the newly renovated North East hangar remains incomplete, although airport engineers hope to bring service to the city hangar in the coming months.   "We are kind of at a standstill, and we have been at a standstill probably two months now," Stantec Engineer Peter Enzien told the commission Tuesday.   Enzien, who is the airport's contracted engineer, said the city is waiting on National Grid to complete a redesign of the new service entrance to the building.
