Storm Bringing Upwards of Foot of Snow Over the Region| 04:49PM / Sunday, January 22, 2023 | |
 Another storm moving through the region could mean up to a foot of snow over North Berkshire and the hilltowns through Monday. The National Weather Service in Albany, N.Y., is forecasting anywhere from 2 to 8 inches across Berkshire County, eastern New York and Southern Vermont. Heavy bands of snow beginning around 4 p.m. are expected to drop 6 to 12 inches over Northern Berkshire. Snowfall rates may reach a half inch up to one inch per hour at times this evening and tonight. ADAMS, Mass. — Adams Community Bank (ACB) ended 2022 with a donation of $75,000 to local food pantries, food banks, and fuel assistance programs. ACB's Senior Vice President of Communications and Community Engagement Maureen Baran presented donations to several Berkshire County nonprofits. Adams Community Bank began its December donation efforts by presenting BCAC's Fuel Assistance program with a $50,000 donation. This program is part of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), a federally funded program to help low-income households with their energy costs. ADAMS, Mass. — After extensive debate of the issue at its last several meetings, the town is still waiting to approve an inn holder license for the Mount Royal Inn. The board is waiting on a final inspection for the motel after discussing it again on Wednesday. Building Commissioner Gerald Garner said the building had been vacated, pending that inspection. "Once I do my final inspection, I can sign off, and we'll be OK. Mr. Bokhari is working with me, I just have not received any calls for inspection," he said. In turn, these food banks support local soup kitchens, food pantries, senior food programs, daycare centers and many others of the 2,100 member agencies that they help every day. More than 200 first responders attended Saturday's training. ADAMS, Mass. — Emergency responders and officials from across the county came to the former Memorial School building Saturday morning to participate in active shooter and hostile event response (ASHER) training.
More than 200 responders received training by Emergency Response Consultants in the last two weeks to prepare for the day's seven-hour session. Members of police, fire and ambulance agencies from North Adams, Adams, Williamstown, New Ashford, Savoy, Williams College and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts were in attendance.

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — 2nd Street, an organization supporting formerly incarcerated men and women in Berkshire County, has partnered with Community Legal Aid (CLA) to open additional office space in North Adams. Located at 33 Main Street, North Adams, the office suite will be shared with CLA, which currently uses the space as a satellite office. Beginning Feb. 1, 2023, 2nd Street will meet with clients by appointment only. Clients wishing to schedule an appointment may call (413) 443-7220, ext. 1275.  ADAMS, Mass. — The Board of Selectmen and town staff are conflicted on what to do with the coal and grain building off Columbia Street that will need significant funding for restoration. Community Development Director Eammon Coughlin came before the board on Wednesday to discuss the cost associated with a restoration. He said design work for stabilizing the building at 1 Cook St. would cost about $100,000, and going through with a stabilization project would cost significantly more.
