Town Clerk Marilyn Gomeau takes the role of moderator for the annual town meeting at Clarksburg School on Wednesday. CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Voters at town meeting on Wednesday swiftly passed $5.1 million in spending for the next fiscal year with no discussion. But other articles, including a proposal to open the town's capped landfill to a solar operator, prompted some debate and amendments from the floor. All 24 business articles passed during the nearly two-hour meeting attended by 67 voters.  Berkshire County schools are scheduling and re-scheduling preschool and kindergarten registration dates and procedures for the 2021-22 school year. Schools can send their information to info@iberkshires.com to be included on this list. All students, regardless of race, religion, color, sex, gender identity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability or homelessness, have equal access to the general education program and the full range of any occupational, vocational programs offered by public school districts.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Drury High School has named Evan-Quin May-Sims Goodermote and Morgan McLean Sarkis as the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, of the class of 2023. The Drury High graduation takes place Thursday at 6 p.m. in the school gymnasium. Goodermote, child of Brett and Tania Goodermote of North Adams, has taken a challenging course load including Advanced Placement courses and two dual enrollment courses in conjunction with Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Mayor's Fitness Challenge (MFC) is back for the month of June, calling on the community to make a conscientious effort at healthier habits by participating in this community-wide fitness challenge. This will be the 7th Annual MFC for North Adams. Community members of all ages are encouraged to register and participate either as individuals or as part of a team, to wrack up points for the chance to earn prizes at the conclusion of the challenge. Participants will be working to build and track points by eating fruits and vegetables, drinking water, and participating in physical activity. There are also daily challenges for points. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Conservation Commission gave BRO MX until July 28 to place signage marking conservation-restricted area they improperly mowed as well as hire a botanist to review the area. The commission on Thursday went over some conservation restrictions included in the deed of motocross track owners Jason and Jessica Langenback that they unknowingly violated. Earlier this month the Pittsfield resident and Taconic graduate was voted the 2023 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Rachiele's memorable 2023 season saw him lead the conference in batting (.453), home runs (14), hits (63, tying the MCLA program record), triples (four), total bases (127, also a program record), as well as on base percentage (.550) and slugging percentage (.914).
