FLORIDA, Mass. — The gathering couldn't quite the match the 10,000 who attended the unveiling the bronze memorial on June 17, 1923, to Elks members who had died in World War I. NORTH ADAMS, Mass.—Applications are open for the 2023 Berkshire Bank STEM Academy for incoming first-year students at MCLA. The program accepts up to 15 students enrolled in a STEM major or who have expressed interest in STEM fields. The 2023 program will run from July 23 to July 27. The deadline to apply is July 1. Designed to introduce incoming students to careers in STEM, the residential, five-day academy includes networking opportunities with STEM faculty, students, and staff to aid in deepening the relationship with those in STEM careers in the Berkshires. Librarian Maggie Donahue led the project and each child was assigned a page. SAVOY, Mass. — Students at the Emma L. Miller Memorial Elementary School created a book walk based on the book "Old Rock" by children's author Deb Pilutti. "So it made them really think about the characters. You have 42 different kids drawing the same rock. But every page looks different in 42 different ways," Librarian Maggie Donahue, who led the project said. Body of Man Accused in Adams Stabbing Found, DA ConfirmsBy Brittany Polito, iBerkshires Staff

 SAVOY, Mass. — Police located the body of Jeffrey Cote, who was wanted for a stabbing incident last week, about a half mile from his home on Thursday morning.
District Attorney Timothy Shugrue confirmed that he died by suicide but has not revealed the cause or time of death.
He reported that no weapons were found around Cote and he was believed to have never left the area of his property after the incident.
The body was found by the State Police Special Emergency Response Team and K9 unit around 10 a.m. after nearly continuous searches since June 7, when Cote allegedly broke into the home of his ex-girlfriend and stabbed her numerous times. His body will be

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — On June 8, Antonio Laboy, 25 of Springfield, was arraigned in Berkshire Superior Court for possession of heroin with intent to distribute, subsequent offense and possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, subsequent offense. According to a report from the district attorney's office, Laboy was present during the execution of a search warrant on a North Adams residence that is a part of an active investigation for narcotics distribution.
