State Police Search for Stabbing Suspect| 01:57PM / Wednesday, June 07, 2023 | |
ADAMS, Mass. — State Police are searching for a suspect in a stabbing that occurred early Wednesday morning on North Summer Street. The victim, an adult female who was previously in a relationship with the suspect, was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries but is expected to survive. The suspect, an adult male, fled the scene prior to police arrival and it is believed he initially returned to his residence at 498 Chapel Road in Savoy. NORTH ADAMS, Mass.— Dr. Anne Goodwin, Massachusetts College Of Liberal Arts (MCLA) Professor of Biology, has been awarded a 2023 Course of Distinction (COD) Award by the Massachusetts Colleges Online (MCO) consortium. Professor Goodwin will be recognized at the 18th annual MCO Conference on eLearning on June 15. The Course of Distinction awards are given annually to recognize excellence in designing and delivering online and hybrid courses across multiple categories.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Finance Committee last week began review of the fiscal 2024 budget presented by Mayor Jennifer Macksey, voting to recommend the School Department and General Government spending plans and compensation plan. The Classification and Compensation Plan for fiscal 2024 included a 2 percent across the board cost-of-living raise and reclassifications for a number of positions. "Police, Fire and Highway settled to have a 2 percent raise this year," said Macksey. "I feel that it's only fair that everyone else gets the 2 percent."  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Justin Kratz, principal of McCann Technical School, announces that Christopher Sunn and Molly Boyer have been named valedictorian and salutatorian respectively. Both students will graduate from McCann Technical School with high honors on Wednesday, June 7. Sunn, son of Bonnie Sunn, is a senior in the Computer Assisted Design program. He is the recipient of the Massachusetts Association of School Superintendent's Award for Academic Excellence and a John and Abigail Adams Scholarship, and is first in his class with a 4.428 GPA.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. &mdash A second round of severe storms is set to hit the North Berkshires into Pittsfield through Friday evening. The National Weather Service in Albany, N.Y., says it could bring more hail and rain, along with high winds. The city's already been hit by a severe storm that dropped marble-sized hail across the city and flooded areas around River Street, Ashland and Church street as mud and debris blocked storm drains.
