Title Match-Ups Set in Giorgi Summer League

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Keiland Cross scored 38 points on Monday to lead Giardina and Bresett PC to a 91-80 win over Cold Hearts in the A Division semi-finals of the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League.

Mass Ave Section Closed for Culvert Construction

The first phase of the $2.4 million stormwater project has been completed under Ashton Avenue, which reopened to traffic on Monday.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — There's some good news for residents in the west end of the city: Ashton Avenue has reopened as of Monday.    There's also bad news: Massachusetts Avenue is now closed to through traffic from Ashton Avenue to Protection Avenue for at least the next three months.    The city is using a $2.4 million MassWorks grant to fix infrastructure issues that have slowed attempts to redevelop the Blackinton Mill.   A 5-foot diameter stormwater pipe is being installed between Ashton Avenue and Wood

Thunder Three-Peat, Kraken Win Title in Debut Season in BABL

Potash Pitches River Monsters to Win in BABL Series Opener

Sarandon Suing Clarksburg Construction Company

STAMFORD, Vt. — Actor Susan Sarandon is suing a local contracting company related to work done on her $2 million home.    The complaint was filed in U.S. District Court in Springfield on Thursday and first reported by news service Reuters.   She alleges that DeGrenier Contracting and Property Management LLC of Clarksburg, Mass., did not construct the home to the standard expected, that numerous failings and problems were not rectified, and that the owner misrepresented his experience in being able to manage the construction of such a home.    Sarandon says she paid $140,000 in caretaker fees but the company "has performed essentially no

Registration Open for September's Savoy Loop Road Race

SAVOY, Mass. — Registration is underway for September's Savoy Loop Road Race.   The event is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Emma L. Miller Elementary School with proceeds benefiting the school.   The 5-mile road race will start at 10 a.m. with a one-mile run run starting shortly after and a kids fun run at about 11:20.   There will be awards, prizes refreshment, activities for children, entertainment and raffles at the start/finish line.   Day of race registration starts at 8:45 a.m.   Register in advance at www.savoylooprace.org.

McCann Tech, Central Radio Win Giorgi League Regular Season Finales

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- McCann Tech pulled away late to earn a  62-54 win over Ramunto's on Tuesday in B Division action in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League.   Walter Mazza had a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds to lead McCann.
