Grand Slam Highlights Home Win for SteepleCats

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Nathan Voss hit a third-inning grand slam on Monday to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to a 6-3 win over the Upper Valley Nighthawks at Joe Wolfe Field.   Jake Kulikowski went 3-for-4 with a triple, and Luke Mistone went 2-for-3 for North Adams.   J.D. Greeley earned the win on the mound with two innings of scoreless relief. The SteepleCats used five pitchers in the win.   North Adams (6-8) host Bristol, Conn., on Tuesday.

Garceau Earns All-America Honors at UMass Boston

Wahconah Regional High School graduate and UMass Boston sophomore Aryianna Garceau earned all-America honors in the 100-meter hurdles at May's NCAA Division III Championships.   Garceau took sixth in the finals with a time of 14.05 seconds after qualifying for the finals with a time of 13.97, which broke a 35-year school record.   In earning all-America honors, Garceau became the 20th Beacon to achieve that honor and the first since 2018.   Earlier in May, Garceau was named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Association's all-Region team. SteepleCats Fall at Holyoke

HOLYOKE, Mass. -- Logan Hugo went 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI Sunday to lead the Valley Blue Sox to a 6-2 win over the North Adams SteepleCats in New England Collegiate Baseball League action.   Luke Mistone went 3-for-5, and David McCann and Antonio Morales each had a pair of hits for the SteepleCats.   North Adams (5-8) hosts the Upper Valley Nighthawks on Monday.

The picnic includes food, beverages and gift cards and bags for local veterans and their families. Greylock Thunder Drops Pair at Conn. Tourney

WINDSOR, Conn. -- The Greylock Thunder 14-and-under travel softball team went 0-2 on the second day of the Fastpitch Nation Cup tournament on Saturday, dropping games by scores of 4-0 and 10-0.   Against the Evolution of West Boylston, Mass., Marlee Arnhold struck out seven and allowed just two earned runs in a 4-0 loss.   Alana Olmedo and Kenadi Arnhold each had a hit for the Thunder.

Donna Myers started at Drury as a student teacher before joining the history department full time in 1998. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Drury High school year culminated on June 7 with an end-of-the-semester showcase, the presentation awards and the naming of this year's Marion B. WINDSOR, Conn. -- Marlee Arnhold struck out 11 in five innings of work and allowed one earned run in a 4-2 loss for the Greylock Thunder 14-and-under softball team on Friday.   The Thunder took the setback against the Vermont Storm in its first game at the Fastpitch Nation Cup.   Sadie Stuebner went 1-for-1 at the plate and drove in both Greylock runs in the loss.   In the Thunder's second game at the tournament, it dropped an 8-0 deccision to the New Canaan, Conn., Rams.   Gianna Witek went the distance in the circle. Berkshire Youth Soccer Holds Season-Ending Tournament

LENOX, Mass. -- Eight teams earned championships last weekend in the finals of the Berkshire County Youth Soccer League spring season.   Teams of boys and girls in grades 5-6 and 7-8 participated in the season-ending tournament, organized by Donna Laroque and Nigel Gayle and hosted mostly at Lenox Memorial Middle and High School.   One squad, the Williamstown Wildcats 12-and-under girls, is extending its season with a trip to this weekend's Massachusetts Tournament of Champions in Lancaster.   Teams winning Berkshire County league titles on June 15 included:   Under-12 Boys B Cup Final: GYAA 2, Williamstown Soccer Club 1 Girls B Cup Final: GYAA 2, Pittsfield Soccer
