 NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Berkshire Medical Center is requesting an overlay district for the campus of the reopening North Adams Regional Hospital. The Hospital Avenue Overlay District would cover only the property off Hospital Avenue owned by BMC that includes the former hospital building, the Clark House, Doctor's Building and Ambulatory Care Center. The purpose of the overlay would be "to enhance and facilitate the provision of hospital and medical services in the City of North Adams and surrounding areas to permit by-right medical uses on the 29-acre parcel." The second phase of Blackinton infrastructure project in North Adams is being funded by a $2 million Massworks grant. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The state's Executive Office of Economic Development has announced $164 million in grant funding through the Community One Stop for Growth application portal, including $7,824,400 for Berkshire County. North Adams received the highest amount in the county: $2.25 million for public and private development projects. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Alliance for Aviation Across America (AAAA) released proclamations emphasizing the essential role of general aviation. North Adams Harriman-and-West Airport was included by the AAA, a nonpartisan, nonprofit, national grassroots coalition of over 7,000 aviation and non-aviation groups and individuals across the country, including businesses, FBOs, small airports, elected officials, agricultural and charitable organizations, and leading industry and aviation groups. Since coming to North Adams, Andrew has demonstrated a strong passion for the city. He has become an active member of several organizations and boards, including First Fridays, North Adams Pride, North Adams Vacant Storefront Window Art, and more. He is a current member of the Zoning Board of Appeals and is co-chair of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA) Commission.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) has received a $626,536 Workforce Development Grant from the Massachusetts Life Sciences Center (MLSC). Over the next two years, this grant will fund the purchase of essential equipment for the College's biology and chemistry programs. MCLA was previously awarded $253,542 from MLSC in 2022 to support its equipment needs. MLSC seeks to further the development and expansion of life sciences education in post-secondary institutions to effectively prepare students for high-demand career opportunities in the life sciences industries. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |
Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
