NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- William Peets has been a shot-blocking machine for the BArT basketball team over the years.   But it was a block of a different kind that proved costly for the Wolfpack in Thursday's River Valley Athletic League title game.   Peets left the game less than a minute into the third quarter after hitting the floor attempting to take a charge.   After icing his knee on the bench, returned later in the third quarter, but he wasn't 100 percent, and Eagle Hill was able to pull away in the closing moments for a 51-44 win at the Armory.   Peets finished with five points, six rebounds and seven blocks for BArT, which got a team-high 17 from Isaac

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Joe Wolfe Field will remain under city control — no matter what teams play there.    Rumors have been rampant for the past few weeks that Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts will be taking over the baseball field in some way and would be doing major renovations that would force the high school teams to Alcombright Athletic Complex.    None of that is true, said Administrative Officer Michael Canales. "First and foremost, it will be a game field for high school, SteepleCats, everyone."   The confusion appears to have begun when the schedule for the Trailblazers was forwarded to high school athletic directors by the

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Brandon Bamba scored 33 points in limited minutes Tuesday to lead the BArT Wolfpack to a 70-60 win over the Pioneer Valley Chinese Immersion Charter School at the North Adams Armory.   Bamba had to sit down during the first half after getting a bloody nose after drawing contact from a member of the Dragons.   That allowed PVCICS to whittle away at a nine-point BArT lead and briefly take a 28-24 lead before Bamba returned with 1 minute, 40 seconds left in the half.   Reggie Delphia put back an offensive rebound to cut the deficit in half and got to the line. He missed his free throw, but Bamba put back the offensive rebound to tie it, 28-28, and

ADAMS, Mass. -- The BArT Charter basketball team recently picked up a couple of wins by big margins heading into Tuesday’s home showdown against RVAL rival Pioneer Valley Independent Chinese Immersion Charter.   BArT (8-1) is in first place going into the regular season finale. If it wins on Tuesday, it likely will be seeded first in the eight-team RVAL tournament that gets underway on Monday, which means the Wolfpack will be home as long as it stays alive in the tourney.   Tuesday’s game is at 4 p.m. at the North Adams Armory.
