More than 200 athletes compete at Drury High School. 

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — J Star Gymnastics hosted an invitational at Drury High School that brought more than 200 young athletes to the city.

Gym owner Jon Girard had a busy week when the seven gymnastics schools from Vermont, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island descended upon the city to compete in the Hip Hop Classic invitational.    "We did it here last year but we wanted it to be bigger so from here on out it will be at Drury," he said. "Unless it gets even larger then we would need a bigger space which is the end goal."   Girard said J Star inherited the invitational from a Brattleboro Vt.,

BENNINGTON, Vt. — The MCLA men's tennis team opened its 2020 season with a resounding 8-1 win over NVU-Johnson Sunday at the Bennington Tennis Center.   In this non league matchup, the Trailblazers started fast as they swept through the doubles matchups. Savoy's Cal Najimy paired with John Archer-Harvey for an 8-1 win in the top doubles slot. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Mitchell College's Jade Shields scored five goals to lead the Mariners to an 18-6 win over the MCLA Trailblazers Saturday.   Mitchell's James Giovanneillo tallied just one minute into the game to start the scoring, but MCLA's Lucas Colavecchio responded with his first tally to tie things up just three minutes later.     Mitchell (1-2) tallied the first quarter's final three goals to take a 4-1 lead.   The run continued for Mitchell as it notched the next two goals to increase the lead to 6-1. WORCESTER, Mass. -- The Worcester State University men's basketball team is off to the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference Championship game after defeating MCLA, 96-72, Thursday night in the conference semifinals at John P. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — MCLA freshman center Chris Becker scored with two seconds remaining to lift the #2 seed Trailblazers to a hard fought 80-78 win over the sixth seeded Fitchburg State in the quarterfinal round of the 2020 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletics Conference (MASCAC) men's basketball tournament a Tuesday evening.

The Trailblazers (15-10) advance to the semifinal round where they will travel to the second seeded Worcester State Lancers on Thursday night at 6pm.

CHESHIRE, Mass. -- The Adams seventh- and eighth-grade travel girls basketball team won its home tournament over the weekend by knocking off two teams from New York.   North Adams made a strong run, beating Greylock and Ballston Spa, N.Y., before falling to Adams.   Adams advanced and defeated a tough Averill Park, N.Y., team that defeated them the day prior to win the tournament.   The tournament win was the Adams girls second championship of the season.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Worcester State's Mya Mosley scored a game best 29 points and the visiting Lancers rallied from a halftime deficit to earn a hard fought 68-64 win over MCLA in women's basketball action in the Amsler Campus Center Gym.   MCLA (2-20, 0-11 MASCAC) led 15-13 after one quarter of play and eventually took a 35-29 lead into halftime behind Erika Ryan' 11 first half points.
