NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — MountainOne announced the completion of its second quarter 2024 Community Dividend funding, distributing over $150,000 to support various not-for-profit organizations in the Berkshires and South Shore communities. In Berkshire County: North Adams SteepleCats (North Adams): $25,000 Berkshire Innovation Center (Pittsfield): $10,000 The Brien Center (Pittsfield): $10,000 BFAIR (North Adams): $5,000 This summer, MountainOne has also supported Farmers' Markets in North Adams and Williamstown, Pittsfield and Williamstown 4th of July parades, and the North Adams Downtown Celebration on August 14. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Following the completion of the first full year of the Drury-MCLA Early College Program, more than 120 Drury High School students earned over 700 college credits, a value of $317,000, while still attending high school. North Adams Public Schools (NAPS) will continue their partnership in the Early College initiative with Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) into the 2024-2025 school year. The win evened the 33rd edition of the La Festa Baseball Exchange at one win apiece with two games left to play in Boston on the weekend of Aug. 10 and 11.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Michael Lewis served his country in the Navy as a petty officer, second class, from 1977 to 1994. Born in North Adams, he would do his basic training at Great Lakes, Ill. His first assignment would be at submarine school (NAVSUBCOM) in Groton, Conn., then to the USS Pensacola (LSD-38) out of Little Creek, Va. While serving onboard the Pensacola, his ship was anchored off the coast of Beirut in October 1980 as part of a Multinational Peacekeeping Force, when the U.S. Embassy was bombed.
