 DALTON, Mass. – Rachael Wnuk hit a three-run double to help her team take a 9-0 lead, and the ACS Swat 16-year-old travel softball team earned a 12-7 win over Dalton on the first day of the 14th annual Dalton CRA Tournament. Wnuk’s inside-the-park round tripper came in a six-run second inning for Adams-Cheshire-Savoy, which was able to survive with the win despite three-run rallies by the hosts in the third and fourth innings of the game that was stopped after five due to the tournament’s time rule. “Huge hit,” ACS coach Lou Moser said. “I’ll tell you, I’ve coached that young lady since she was in coach-pitch division.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The City Council will take up a borrowing authorization for the $65 million Greylock School project at a special meeting on Monday. If it is approved, there will be a ballot vote for a debt exclusion in September for the city's $20 million portion of the cost. The committee is planning a full-court press to convince citizens of the need for a new Greylock School to replace the closed 1965 building and the deteriorating Brayton Elementary that needs millions in repairs. The truck has front-end damage; the tree is gone. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — An errant pickup truck took out one of the trees on Main Street on Thursday night. Police Lt. Anthony Beverly said dispatch was notified about 10 minutes to midnight that a vehicle was in the median. The incident is still under investigation but the driver is expected to be summonsed on criminal charges. The driver was apparently headed west on Main Street when they veered into the median in front of the Berkshire Plaza. The driver was the only occupant and was taken to the hospital.  State Secures $1.72B Toward Cape Cod Bridges Project The Healey-Driscoll administration is celebrating that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers winning nearly $1 billion in federal funding for the replacement of the Cape Cod bridges. The funding is from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law’s Bridge Investment Program. A tree limb smashed in the cab on Mark Moulton's truck. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A severe thunderstorm hammered parts of North and Central County on Tuesday night, downing trees and limbs and leaving more than 8,000 customers without power. The Berkshires, Eastern New York and parts of Southern Vermont were under a severe thunderstorm watch until 9 p.m. on Tuesday. The storm came through shortly after 6 p.m. with thunder and lightning and torrential rain. Alerts and calls began streaming into dispatch and fire and police departments began calling in extra help.
