Berkshires Receive National Health Emergency Dislocated Worker Grant

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — To help address the crisis, the U.S. Department of Labor today announced the award of more than $1 million in funding for the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development to address the impact of the opioid crisis on the local workforce in Berkshire County.   Administered by the department's Employment and Training Administration, the National Health Emergency Dislocated Worker Grant will support Massachusetts in its efforts to employ people in positions as recovery coaches, harm reduction specialists, peer navigators and community health workers. The funding will also provide employment and training services to eligible individuals

Pittsfield Figure Skating Club Holds Registration Night

Adams Fall Run Thunders Out on Oct. 1

ADAMS, Mass. — The Adams Fall Run, back for its third consecutive year, is set to roll thunder on Sunday, Oct. 1, from Bowe Field.   Gates open at the fairgrounds at 371 Old Columbia St. at 9 a.m. and the traditional kickoff is at 11 and kickstands up 11:30.    Weather permitting, the ride through the beautiful fall foliage of the Berkshire hilltowns will be approximately 75 miles and end about in Shelburne Falls.    The riders who donate $20 a motorcycle to join are the backbone to the fun and the major donation sources for the ride. Brown Lifts MCLA Volleyball, Calvert Powers Mass Maritime to Tie

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Lee High graduate Elizabeth Brown had a match-high 13 kills Friday to lead the MCLA volleyball team to a four-set win over SUNY-Delhi.   Brown also had a couple of aces in the 25-23, 25-17, 20-25, 25-15 win.   MCLA (6-2) hosts Russell Sage on Saturday.   Men's Soccer NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Wahconah graduate Brody Calvert scored twice in the second half to bring Mass Maritime back from a 3-1 deficit and earn a 3-3 tie at MCLA.   Calvert has six goals and one assist this fall for the Buccanneers, who improved to 1-4-2 overall and 0-1-1 in the MASCAC.   MCLA (2-3-1, 0-1-1) hosts Vermont's Lyndon State on Tuesday.

North Adams Seeks Christmas Trees for 2023

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — You know winter is not far off when the annual call for Christmas trees goes out.    The city is looking for two large trees of 25 to 30 feet in height to decorate the downtown area for the holiday season. Drury Class of 1973 Gifts Bench and Plaque to Old High School

The bench is located near the former main entrance at Colegrove Park Elementary School next to the nurse's office. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — One of the last classes to graduate from the old Drury High School made sure their time there is not forgotten.     The class of 1973 recently held its 50th class reunion and, as part of their celebration, gifted a bench that is located Colegrove Park Elementary School.     Colegrove on East Main Street was originally Drury High until the "new" high school was built on South Church Street.
