This Saturday, all are welcome to attend a Rally for Recovery taking place in North Adams at Colegrove Park, from 1-3 p.m. This event, sponsored by the North Adams HEAL Coalition, is held as part of Recovery Month, a national observance held every September to promote and support proven treatment and recovery practices, our strong and proud recovery community, and the dedication of service providers and communities who make recovery in all its forms possible.

Final Phase of the Flushing of Pittsfield's Water System

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Monday, October 2 marks the final phase for the fall flushing schedule of Pittsfield's water system.    Water mains throughout the city will be flushed through hydrants to remove accumulations of pipeline corrosion products. Mains will be flushed Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 3 p.m.   The upcoming flushing for this week may be expected to affect the following areas: Cascade and Churchill streets. West Street from Fort Hill Avenue west including Meadow Ridge Drive, Lillybrook Road, and Westbrook Terrace. Clark Art Expands RX for Wellbeing Program

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — The Clark Art Institute and Berkshire Medical Center are teaming to provide a new mental health service aimed at providing assistance to trauma victims.   The Clark currently offers a county-wide program, Rx for Wellbeing at the Clark, through local mental health practitioners as a means of encouraging engagement with art as part of a therapeutic treatment plan for those dealing with issues like depression, anxiety, and social isolation. North Adams Police Chief Says Body-Worn Cameras Beneficial

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Police Department's new body cameras are already proving beneficial to the force, interim Police Chief Mark Bailey told the City Council on Tuesday.   "There's two instances that come to mind that officers were completely exonerated for citizen complaints," Baily said. "We can review the body camera very quickly and we can show the citizen who is initiating the complaint what actually happened and it doesn't lead to an internal investigation."   The cameras also cause a "civilizing effect" for both officers and citizens to be on their best behavior, he said, referring to studies done by the city of Rialto,

Saboteurs Earn Narrow Win in Northern Berkshire Fall Hoop League

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Jake Hall had a double-double to lead the Saboteurs to a one-point win in the Northern Berkshire Sports Academy fall league B Division on Sunday.   Hall scored 18 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a 66-65 win over Adelson and Company at the Armory.   Dave Crtielli scored 13 points, and Sam Larabee finished with nine points and eight rebounds.   For Adelson, Jon Gregory scored a game-high 29 points and collected 12 rebounds. Nick Lewis scored 12 points.   Workaholics 60, Elegant Stiches 40 Amont David scored 16 points, and Darian Vidal finished with 15 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Harrington Earns League Honor at Stonehill College

Pittsfield High School graduate Kellie Harrington last week was named the Northeast Conference Rookie of the Week for her performance as a first-year harrier at Stonehill College.   Harrington placed 21st and helped the Skyhawks finish second as a team at her first collegiate race, a 5-kilometer event at the 41-team UMass Dartmouth Invitational.   Harrington and her Stonehill teammates compete this week at the Paul Short Run at Lehigh University.   In Colchester, Vt., on Friday, Abby Kittler (Pittsfield) and the St. Michael's cross country team hosted what is believed to be the only same-distance men's and women's event in the country, second annual the Equality

LumiNAMA Calls for Holiday Window Displays Artists

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The LumiNAMA Light Festival is seeking artists and community groups to create holiday window displays for unoccupied storefronts in downtown North Adams this holiday season.   LumiNAMA is an annual festival of lights and events begun in 2022 to brighten and celebrate downtown North Adams during the holiday season.
