Tyler will present the 2023 Michael S. and Kitty Dukakis Public Policy Lecture at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, in MCLA's Church Street Center Auditorium. Tyler is the Shannon Cecil Turner Professor of Law at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. She is the author of several books, including "Justice, Justice Thou Shalt Pursue: A Life's Work Fighting for a More Perfect Union," with the Honorable Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Kane-Smalls Leads Mount Greylock to OT Win in Title Game03:03PM / Monday, October 16, 2023 | | NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Noah Kane-Smalls hit the game-winning shot in overtime Sunday to lead Mount Greylock to a 65-64 win over Hoosac Valley in the Northern Berkshire Sports Academy fall high school basketball league. Kane-Smalls finished with a double-double, scoring 25 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Desmond Cobb also had a double-double for the Mounties with 24 points and 13 boards. Ward Bianchi scored 11 points, and Nolan Barnes grabbed 15 rebounds in the win. Hoosac Valley was led by Trevor Moynihan with 23 points, including five 3-pointers. "We do a lot of complaints regarding trash and rodents and garbage left outside for a long period of time," Health Inspector Heather DeMarsico told the Public Safety Committee recently. "A lot of the problem is that once we get to the point where they're not picking it up and we try to issue them a fine, my fines really mean nothing." "Everybody was patiently waiting," General Manager John Meaney Jr. said. "I say patiently because it was a long time coming." The City Council gave final approval to the new fees on Tuesday; they were passed to a second reading a month ago but not published in time to be voted at the last meeting. The fees at the transfer station are based on costs of labor and disposal of waste, which has continued to rise. The city budgeted $136,000 more for waste removal this fiscal year.
