Post 68 Legion Squad Downs North Adams

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Jesse Thompson went 2-for-2 and scored a pair of runs Friday to lead the Pittsfield Post 68 Senior 2 baseball team to a 9-5 win over North Adams Post 125.   Cam Reynolds was 2-for-3 for Post 68, which is fielding two American Legion Senior Division teams for the first time this summer.   Dylan Turner earned the win on the mound, striking out five, walking none and allowing two earned runs in six innings of work before giving the ball to Jason Fields for a scoreless seventh.   It was a 4-4 game until the sixth inning, when Post 68 scored three times. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Nelphie Lopez went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI Thursday to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to a 4-3 win over the Mystic Schooners in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.   Nick Hunkele gave up one run in five innings of work on the mound but was not around for the decision.   Williamstown's Josh Polumbo threw a scoreless inning of relief, and Jeremey Cheeseman struck out a pair in one inning of scoreless relief to earn the win.   North Adams (3-5) continues a four-game home stand on Friday when it hosts Sanford, Maine.

NEWPORT, R.I. -- Robert Stang hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to lead the North Adams SteepleCats to a 2-1 win over the Newport Gulls on Wednesday night.   Stang's first homer of the year drove in Gabriel Natividad and gave the SteepleCats at 2-0 lead.   That was more than enough to lead a North Adams pitching staff led by Dawson Montesa, who earned the win with five strikeouts in five innings of work on the mound.   Eli Bridenthal got the save after striking out a pair in two innings.   North Adams (2-5) is home on Thursday to face Mystic, Conn.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — According to a statement released by the North Adams Police Department, area law enforcement arrested two men allegedly involved in an on-going narcotics distribution operation.   On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, members of the North Adams Police Department Detective Unit, Adams Police Department and Berkshire County Drug Task Force executed two search warrants simultaneously at 21 Blackinton Street First Floor Apartment and 21 Blackinton Street Second Floor Apartment in North Adams.   The statement read that the court authorized search warrants were executed as part of an on-going narcotics distribution operation occurring from both apartments. North Adams Public Library to Host Cosplay Workshop

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. —The North Adams Public Library is scheduled to host a cosplay workshop presented by Eldritch Arts, expert costume & prop makers.

The event is set for Wednesday, June 11, at 6 p.m. and will take place in the library's third-floor community room.

The workshop aims to teach attendees accessible, beginner-friendly, and inexpensive approaches to cosplay. Participants will learn to create leather bracelets that can be customized with stamps and fasteners, or to create and decorate bracers, which resemble body armor. All materials will be provided, and attendees will retain their creations.

The program is free, and registration is required due to limited space.

Library to Host 'Pages of a Story' Exhibit

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The North Adams Public Library is scheduled to host the unveiling of "Pages of a Story," an exhibit created by local artist Gloria Calderon-Saenz.

The event is set for Wednesday, June 11, at 5 p.m. at the library, located at 74 Church Street.

North Adams Adds Cannabis Retail Licenses

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The City Council Tuesday voted, 6-1, to increase the city's number of marijuana retail establishment licenses to four.   On a night when the council's main business was approving the fiscal year 2026 budget for the city, the panel also considered revisions to the zoning ordinance that covers cannabis retail establishments.   Part of those revisions included striking earlier language that capped the number of potential pot shops at 20 percent of the number of licenses issued for package stores and, instead, allowing up to four marijuana retailers. Martha Redbone to Perform 'Song-scapes' at MASS MoCA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Martha Redbone and her touring band are scheduled to perform on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 8:00 PM.

The concert is presented in conjunction with Jeffrey Gibson's installation "POWER FULL BECAUSE WE’RE DIFFERENT" at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA).

The performance, titled "Song-scapes," is described as "an immersive, congregational concert honoring the space in sound, sonic time travel — connecting the ancestors and descendants, the past and present, unapologetically uplifting the Black and Indigenous interwoven American story in music."
