Bishop Earns Conference Honor at St. Michael's

St. Michael's College first-year catcher and Drury High School graduate Brooke Bishop was named the Northeast-10 Conference Rookie of the Week in mid-April.   Bishop went .389 at the plate with a .667 slugging percentage and .450 on-base percentage in a 3-3 week for the Purple Knights to earn the honor on April 21.   Last week, St. Michael's was eliminated in the NE10 tournament with a 2-0 loss to top-seed Pace, the No. 15-ranked team in Division II at the time.   Needing two wins against Pace to advance in the tourney, St. Michael's won Game 1, when Bishop went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI. North Adams Public Schools to Destroy Former Special Education Records

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — North Adams Public Schools will destroy special education records of students who withdrew, graduated, transferred, or were released from special education services during the 2017-2018 school year.   The records will be destroyed after June 30, 2025.   Former students or their parents who wish to retrieve these records should contact Student Support Services at 413-776-1670, options 3, 4, or 5, no later than June 25, 2025. The school district requests two days' advance notice for record pickup.

North Adams' K-M Toyota Expands Service Center

The service center is located next to the main building at 51 West Main St.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — K-M Toyota has revamped its old body shop on West Main Street to better accommodate the service needs of its customers.   The body shop was closed down a few years ago, and has been used intermittently since, said Dennis Dubie, owner of K-M Toyota.   He decided it would be a great service area because it has enough room to be able to work on bigger vehicles. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Artist Cheryl Coppens long had a dream of opening a jewelry store.   That dream came true last November when she opened The Artful Jewelers in the space on Ashland Street that had housed the former DiLego Jewelry, which ceased operations after nearly a century in business. McCann Graduates First Adult Manufacturing Technology Class

The 200-hour course was the first under the state's Career Technical Initiative grants.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — One by one the eight graduates of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program were called up on Thursday to receive a folio containing all the certifications they had earned since February.    The free 200-hour course was funded through state Career Technical Initiative implementation grants. McCann Technical School was awarded funding last year for advanced manufacturing, welding and automotive technology courses. 'Reclaiming Revolution' Exhibition Opens at Gallery 51

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) and MOSAIC will present "Reclaiming Revolution: Intersections of Remembrance and Resistance," a group exhibition exploring the role of art in social change.

The exhibition features senior capstone work by Max Fyfe, J.C. Innocent, Mannie McBride, Cleo Murphy, and Enaya A. Ogletree, addressing themes of heritage, grief, identity, sustainability, and transformation.
