Berkshires Awarded Fair Share Amendment Grants

North Adams Hires Past Legion Commander as Veterans Services Officer

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mitchell Keil has been hired at the new veterans services officer for the city of North Adams and district director for the additional communities of Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg, Dalton, Florida, Lanesborough, Savoy and Williamstown.   He was confirmed in his position at Tuesday night's City Council meeting. He replaces Air Force veteran Stephen Roy, who has resigned effective Dec. 22.   Mayor Jennifer Macksey thanked Roy for his service and that she wished him well in his future endeavors. BArT Announces Upcoming Enrollment Deadlines

ADAMS, Mass. — Berkshire Arts and Technology (BArT) Charter Public School is currently accepting applications for students in grades 6 through 10 for the 2023-2024 school year and the 2024-2025 school year.   The first enrollment deadline for the 2024-2025 school year is Thursday, Feb. 29 at noon. The easiest way to apply is to visit https://bartcharter.schoolmint.com/. McCann's Harrington Selected for Superintendent's Award

Media & Technology Company Moving Headquarters to Mass MoCA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A media and technology company is moving to Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Arts.   The Mass MoCA Commission on Monday approved a tenant agreement for Kinetek Inc., which will relocate its headquarters from Montpelier, Vt., to Building 1.       Principals Hugh and Debra McGrory and their new business partner Eyal Rimmon were introduced by Morgan Everett, head of public initiatives and real estate for MoCA.    "Kinetic is generative media company, working at the intersection of film, art and emerging technologies. BIC Receives Collaborative Workspace Program Grant

Stiles American Legion Post 125 will be hosting its annual "Be Our Guest" Christmas dinner.    This is a free dinner for veterans’ and community members takes place on Christmas Day (Dec. 25). North Adams Recognizes Work of Disability Awareness Advocates

MassDOT Secures Funds for Enhanced Boston-Albany Passenger Rail

BOSTON — The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) has announced that up to $500,000 has been awarded to the Rail and Transit Division through the Federal Railroad Administration's (FRA) Corridor Identification and Development Program (Corridor ID) to support planning for additional train service connecting Boston and Albany, New York through Springfield.    This corridor would provide up to eight daily round-trip passenger trains on an existing alignment owned by CSX Transportation. Currently, the only passenger service on this corridor is Amtrak's once-daily long-distance Lake Shore Limited. Development of this corridor is part of the Healey-Driscoll
