North Adams City Hall Hosts 'Daydream' Sculpture

The work had initially been envisioned for the Eagle Street pocket park but found a more prominent home at City Hall.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Peter May had envisioned placing an artwork of his own creation in the Eagle Street pocket park where his building had once stood.    Instead, "Daydream" has a more prominent place of honor on the front lawn at City Hall.    "It's amazing, an incredible honor to have my piece as a permanent installation here at the corner at City Hall," May said Friday morning as his aluminum sculpture was officially recognized with a ribbon cutting.    May had first approached the Public Arts

Berkshire Restaurants Awarded MassDevelopment Grants

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Pittsfield restaurants  Marie's North Street Eatery, BB's Hot Spot and Mazzeos were awarded grants along side North Adams restaurant Bigg Daddy's.   MassDevelopment announced $900,000 in grants from the Food Insecurity Grant Program for Independent Restaurants, a program in which independent restaurants in Massachusetts receive funding to prepare and supply meals and other food products for nonprofit meal distributors with the goal of helping address food insecurity in the state.  Marie's North Street Eatery was awarded $13,000 BB's Hot Spot was awarded $11,420    Mazzeos was awarded $10,000 Bigg Daddy's was

Fall Foliage Events, Parade Grand Marshal Announced

North Adams ConComm OKs Brown Street Bridge, Gas Station

A rendering of what the gas station at Eagle and Canal will look like.   NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Brown Street Bridge has been cleared for work to begin temporary repairs to the deteriorating beams that have left it closed for more than two years.    The Conservation Commission on Wednesday that no notice of intent was required on project.    "The project is for the temporary repairs of the Brown Street Bridge so we can get it open back up," said Commissioner of Public Services Timothy Lescarbeau. "There's going to be repair work done on the beams, no excavation, so there's no issues with erosion controls or things like that.

Great Spots to Catch a Fish in Berkshire County

Windsor Lake in North Adams is regularly stocked with trout. 

Summer may be winding down, but there is still plenty of time and great weather to catch some fish.

Most major lakes, ponds, and rivers, including the Housatonic, are open to fishing year-round with catch limits; smaller rivers and brooks have catch limits of three after Sept. 11 and eight after April 1. Find a list of fishing seasons and limits here. 

Berkshire County has scenic places to sail this fall as well as stand on the edge and cast out.
