MCLA Radiologic Technology Maintains 100% Employment

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) announced that its Radiologic Technology program continues a 100 percent employment rate for graduates over the last five years.    MCLA became the teach-out partner for Southern Vermont College's (SVC) Radiologic Sciences program in 2019, following SVC's closure.   The Radiologic Technology program has doubled in class size over the last year, from five to 10 students, and is expected to welcome 20 students in next year's class. Program Director and Assistant Professor Julie Walsh reported that this year's graduates achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the American Registry of Radiologic

Drury Students Earn Over 700 College Credits

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Following the completion of the first full year of the Drury-MCLA Early College Program, more than 120 Drury High School students earned over 700 college credits, a value of $317,000, while still attending high school.   North Adams Public Schools (NAPS) will continue their partnership in the Early College initiative with Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) into the 2024-2025 school year.   This academic collaboration, formally approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education in 2023, granted Early College designation to Drury High School. Veteran Spotlight: Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Michael Lewis

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Michael Lewis served his country in the Navy as a petty officer, second class, from 1977 to 1994.   Born in North Adams, he would do his basic training at Great Lakes, Ill. His first assignment would be at submarine school (NAVSUBCOM) in Groton, Conn., then to the USS Pensacola (LSD-38) out of Little Creek, Va.   While serving onboard the Pensacola, his ship was anchored off the coast of Beirut in October 1980 as part of a Multinational Peacekeeping Force, when the U.S. Embassy was bombed.
