 NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The city will submit a new Greylock School as its preferred option to the Massachusetts School Building Authority. The decision was not unexpected — the School Building Committee last week unanimously recommended the estimated $61 million project. The School Committee and the building committee on Tuesday voted aye — with several "resounding" yeses — to move forward with a new build. The other options were an addition/renovation at Greylock or a renovation at Brayton Elementary.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Lee High graduate Elizabeth Brown Tuesday keyed a pivotal league victory for the MCLA volleyball team against Framingham State. Brown finished with a match-high 12 kills and recorded a .357 hitting percentage. She also made some big plays in the decisive third set. Brown's kill capped a 6-2 run by the Trailblazers to open the third set, and she recorded two kills in a 5-1 run to end the set. Shannon O'Brien had 23 assists in the 25-19, 25-23, 25-17 win.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Noah Kane-Smalls hit the game-winning shot in overtime Sunday to lead Mount Greylock to a 65-64 win over Hoosac Valley in the Northern Berkshire Sports Academy fall high school basketball league. Kane-Smalls finished with a double-double, scoring 25 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Desmond Cobb also had a double-double for the Mounties with 24 points and 13 boards. Ward Bianchi scored 11 points, and Nolan Barnes grabbed 15 rebounds in the win. Hoosac Valley was led by Trevor Moynihan with 23 points, including five 3-pointers. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Inspection Services says it can cite property owners for trash nuisances but has little power to force their compliance. "We do a lot of complaints regarding trash and rodents and garbage left outside for a long period of time," Health Inspector Heather DeMarsico told the Public Safety Committee recently. "A lot of the problem is that once we get to the point where they're not picking it up and we try to issue them a fine, my fines really mean nothing." NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — North Berkshire seniors home alone on Thanksgiving can sign up to have a turkey dinner with the trimmings delivered to their home. This year's "Thanksgiving for Seniors Program" will enter its 39th year serving the Northern Berkshire area. It is designed to serve people 60 years of age and older who are alone on Thanksgiving and have no way of having a traditional Thanksgiving meal and who reside in Adams, Cheshire, the town of Florida, North Adams and Williamstown. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Louison House has been providing temporary shelter for more than 30 years. Now it's looking for a more permanency as the need for emergency and transitional housing has grown. And it's going to need support from its partners and city officials to overcome resistance to the idea, Executive Director Kathy Keeser said at the shelter's annual meeting last week at the Green on Main Street.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Northern Berkshire EMS ambulance fleet is finally up to full numbers with the addition of three new ambulances. "Everybody was patiently waiting," General Manager John Meaney Jr. said. "I say patiently because it was a long time coming." Meaney said a new group of ambulances was ordered in May but production issues have caused delays. He said there is a chassis shortage, and a post-workforce shortage is causing interruptions in production. "They went from producing at the factory 50 trucks a year to Like 17," Meaney said.
