Jersey barriers and barrels were put up this week to limit a section of the roadway to two lanes. Plans are to soon prohibit large trucks from the bridge. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The 61-year-old Veterans Memorial Bridge has been declared "structurally deficient" after the most recent inspection by the state Department of Transportation. On a vote of 6-2, the eight members in attendance chose to follow the path recommended by the Board of Assessors and use a 1.715 shift differential from the residential to the commercial class of real estate. CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9144 played Santa Claus on Sunday (with a little help from the jolly old elf) at the town's tree lighting. The post handed out nearly $10,000 in donations to worthy organizations. Santa arrived on a fire truck with the Clarksburg Volunteer Fire Department and was greeted with cheers but a large crowd of children. MCLA Receives Grant to Fund Mental Health Support 10:47AM / Tuesday, November 28, 2023 | | NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA) announced it has received the Garrett Lee Smith (GLS) Suicide Prevention Grant for $306,000 from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). Over the next three years, this funding will launch the MCLA Cares Project, an initiative to build campus-wide infrastructure to support student mental health.
