OTT Taxi Told to 'Cease Operations'Staff Reports, 05:37PM / Sunday, December 31, 2023 | | NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A local taxi company was told by the city to close its doors at 8 a.m. on New Year's Day after failing to find a new office location. The closure of OTT Taxi was announced as "temporary" through Facebook posts but not on its website. The company has apparently been operating without a permanent location since at least October. According to the city, owner John Lord has told it of a half-dozen potential sites but none have panned out. Born in Higganum, he was drafted at the age of 19 and did his basic training at Fort Dix, NJ. "Didn't want to go in. I just got a big job at Pratt-Whitney, bought a '68 Camaro and had a girlfriend that I was crazy about," he said. "But I went in."
