 Hippity Hoppity the weekend is on its way and there will be a number of events in the Berkshires to celebrate Easter. Easter Events: Saturday Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt The Common, Pittsfield Time: 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The city will be having its 78th annual Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt. Children are required to bring their own baskets. During this free event, Bowie the clown will be twisting balloons, children can meet the Easter Bunny and search for the golden egg.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. – As it enters its 13th season, the Berkshire Adult Baseball League has a new commissioner. Jared Martin takes over the reins this spring from BABL founder Lou Orazio. The league, which has games mostly on Sunday mornings with some weeknights throughout the season, runs from early May through mid-August in two divisions, the 20-and-over Division and the 33-and-over Division. “The 20+ year old division is full of mostly competitive players, while the 33+ year old division is a more fun environment and less on the competitive side of things,” Martin said. CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The town will see a three-way race for a seat on the Select Board in May. Colton Andrews, Seth Alexander and Bryana Malloy returned papers by Wednesday's deadline to run for the three-year term vacated by Jeffrey Levanos. Andrews ran unsuccessfully for School Committee and is former chairman of the North Adams Housing Authority, on which he was a union representative. He is also president of the Pioneer Valley Building Trades Council. Malloy and Alexander are both newcomers to campaigning. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Drury High School is gearing up for its upcoming End-of-Year Showcase on June 7, 2024. The event will highlight student achievements and the school's learning environment. CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Town officials have heaved a sigh of relief with the state's certification of free cash for the first time in more than three years. The town's parade of employees through its financial offices the past few years put it behind on closing out its fiscal years between 2021 and 2023. A new treasurer and two part-time accountants have been working the past year in closing the books and filing with the state. The result is the town will have $571,000 in free cash on hand as it begins budget deliberations. Assistant City Clerk Melissa Kilbride swears in the new officers on Tuesday night. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The city swore in four new police officers during Tuesday night's City Council meeting. Officers Nicholas Lillie, Steven Wandrei, Nannette Reid and Elizabeth Zipp joined the force as full-time officers; Lillie. Reid and Wandrei graduated last Friday from the Police Academy. Zipp was a full-time officer in her hometown of Hinsdale for five years. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A three-week strike by unionized staff of Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art has ended with a contract agreed on Tuesday by both sides. Members of UAW Local 2110 voted Tuesday evening to ratify an agreement that will settle wages for the next two years. "We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with the Mass MoCA that raises minimum pay rates and improves working conditions," according to statement from the local. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The McCann School Committee last week approved a new three-year Student Oppurtunity Act plan that focuses positive school environments, leveraging best practices for students with disabilities and supporting curriculum communication. Principal Justin Kratz said the vocational district had received about $170,000 in extra state funding toward implementing the goals. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Two people were arraigned in Northern Berkshire District Court on Monday in connection to alleged trespassing and trafficking cocaine and crack cocaine from a March 22 incident. Kayla Stojda, 31, address unknown, and Joseph Mathews, 25, of Adams were both charged with trafficking in cocaine, 200 grams or more, and trespassing after notice. The commonwealth requested Stojda be held on $100,000 bail. The court imposed $2,500 bail. Additionally Stojda had bail recorded on underlying cases. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The School Committee will likely dip into its school choice account to close a revenue gap for fiscal 2025. The Finance and Facilities subcommittee was presented with a tentative budget scenario on Monday morning that would pull nearly $600,000 out of the school choice account and raise the city's portion by $100,000.
