McCann Awaits Inspection For HVAC Building

The building has different types of heating and air conditioning systems for the HVAC program that started this fall.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Superintendent James Brosnan led the School Committee through the new HVAC shop building that the state Department of Education will inspect on Sept. 19.   "The Department of Education will come and review and approve the site to meet the criteria of Chapter 74," Brosnan said Thursday after the committee meeting. North Adams Residents Seek Answers on Forest Management Plan

North Adams Council OKs Software Borrowing

MassDPH Reports Indoor Air Quality Test Results for Brayton

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) program was asked by Superintendent Barbara Malkas to examine Brayton Elementary School to assess the presence of water damage and mold growth resulting from high relative humidity conditions that occurred during August 2024.    Pertinent results of the inspection included: Air temperature was within the MDPH recommended range. North Adams School Committee Hears Report on Brayton Air Quality

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The School Committee on Monday heard a report from the consultant hired to evaluate air quality at Brayton Elementary School after mold was found in a classroom this summer.   Craig Gifford of GEM Environmental walked the committee through the key findings in a 22-page report provided to the district.   Except for a couple of hallways in the lower level of the building, GEM found mold spore counts in the air to be below the counts in the ambient air outside the building, Gifford said.   "In the classrooms, to be honest, it was very low," he said.   On a typical day in the summer, Gifford said, outside air in the region might have mold

North Adams Sets Meeting on Notch Forestry Plan

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The city has set a public information session about controversial plans to log parts of the Notch Reservoir watershed.    The forum will take place on Thursday at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers at City Hall.
