2nd Street Executive Director To Speak at Triad Meeting

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — 2nd Street Executive Director Lindsay Cornwell will speak at the next meeting of Triad, a collaboration among the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office, the Berkshire County Sheriff's Department and local police that focuses on the safety of seniors in the community, on Wednesday, Aug. 28 at 12:30 pm.    The meeting will be held at the North Adams Council on Aging in the Mary Spitzer Center, located at 116 Ashland Street in North Adams.   Triad is a community policing initiative involving seniors, law enforcement and service providers to increase safety through education and crime prevention. North Adams Councilor Kayaking for Hoosic River Revival

Stops marked along the way to the Hudson river.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A city councilor is paddling his way up the Hoosic River to raise funds for the Hoosic River Revival.   Andrew Fitch took the waters on Tuesday for his third annual long-distance summer vacation adventure and fundraiser. Last year, he walked 75 miles over five days between North Canaan, Conn., and Stamford, Vt..   This year, Fitch is kayaking navigable portions of the river from the Cheshire Reservoir to the mouth of the Hoosic, where it flows into the Hudson River in Stillwater, N.Y., over the course of five days and 70 miles.   He will be assisted by his boyfriend, Laurence Wilson, and

Temescal Facing Eviction From North Adams Plant

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Two years ago Temescal Wellness cut the ribbon on a $21 million cannabis cultivation facility on Curran Highway with much fanfare.    Now the property owners are trying to evict the business for nonpayment of rent.    The Berkshire Eagle on Thursday reported the lawsuit filed in Berkshire Superior Court last month by IIP-MA 7 LLC,  limited liability company based in California. The company bought the former Crane Stationery plant for $3.1 million in May 2021 and entered into a 20-year leasing agreement with Temescal a month later.    In court filings on July 3, IIP-MA 7 LLC claims Temescal failed to make payments in excess of

New School Project Info Session Set at Brayton

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The School Building Committee is continuing efforts to get information out about the Greylock School project ahead of a debt exclusion vote on Oct. 8.    The first of two information sessions was held last week; the second is this Thursday at Brayton Elementary School at 6 p.m. There will also be a virtual component for residents unable to attend.    Residents can also attend a coffee klatsch on Friday morning at the Eagle Street parklet. BAAMS' Summer Jazz Band Day Camp In Full Swing

Students come together to perform as a group but to have the opportunity to break out into sections specific to their instrument. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — More students are getting into the swing with BAAMS' Summer Jazz Band Day Camp, which returned this week for its sixth session.
Berkshires Academy of Advanced Musical Studies founder and Director Richard Boulger said this year 35 students attended the camp, and although the majority are from Berkshire County, students from the Boston area and New York State were participating.
