BArT Announces First Quarter Honor Roll | 07:57AM / Monday, October 30, 2023 | | ADAMS, Mass. — Berkshire Arts & Technology (BArT) Charter Public School has announced the students who made the honor roll for the first quarter of the 2023-2024 school year. Students who earned 80 percent or above in all of their classes received the distinction of "Honors". Students who earned 90 percent or above in all of their classes received the distinction of "High Honors." Academic courses at BArT are aligned with the Massachusetts State Curriculum Frameworks for the appropriate grade level and include all standards deemed necessary for a complete, college-preparatory, middle and high school education. BREWSTER, Mass. — Former state Rep. Timothy Whelan served his country in the Marine Corps Reserve from 1989 to 1994 as a lance corporal. He grew up in Worcester and was the youngest of three children. His father was a public school teacher and his mother was a registered nurse. In 1989, he took a leave of absence as a corrections officer with the Worcester Country Sheriff's Office to enlist in the Marine Reserve and attended boot camp at Parris Island, S.C. A memorable event during boot camp was when Hurricane Hugo made landfall north of Parris Island two weeks before he graduated. He remembered it as "one strong storm." MCLA Women's Hockey Program Plays First Games| 01:40PM / Sunday, October 29, 2023 | | WILKES, Pa. -- Carlen Bertrand scored the first goal in the history of the MCLA women's hockey program in a 6-1 loss to Wilkes University on Saturday. The Trailblazers (0-2) lost a pair of games to Wilkes on the first weekend for the first-year program. Katie O'Brien stopped 52 shots for MCLA in Saturday's loss. The Trailblazers host their first ever home game on Saturday when Hilbert College visits the Peter W. Foote Vietnam Veterans Memorial Rink for a 6 p.m. contest. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |

Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
