MCLA Returning to Pre-pandemic Patterns, In-class InstructionBy Brian Rhodes,

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — MCLA president James Birge said students are mostly doing well to start the new school year, after two-and-a-half years of remote or hybrid instruction. "I think all of us know that the pandemic hasn't disappeared. It's in an endemic stage, and so there's a little bit of disease, but generally, the people that I've encountered seem really excited to be back," he said. "Really happy to be sitting with people and not necessarily online." Birge updated the school's Board of Trustees on the beginning of the semester at its meeting on Thursday.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Veronica Bosley's been experimenting with horrific and fantastical makeup as a hobby. Now she's running to be the first-ever "Face of Horror." Bosley's cleared the first quarter final hurdle in the online voting contest, putting her in the company of nearly 800 other competitors going into the next round. She's already survived 10 rounds and thousands of contestants. The grand prize winner gets $13,000, a photo shoot with Kane Hodder ("Jason Voorhees") in Rue Morgue Magazine, a walk-in on in an independent film and two nights at the Buffalo Bill's house (from "Silence of the Lambs") in 9 Comments

PITTSFIELD, Mass. — One dozen Berkshire county libraries are hosting The Berkshire Libraries Fall Crawl from October 17 to October 22, 2022. All are welcome to explore the Berkshires by visiting public libraries across the county. Participants can pick up a passport at the first library they visit and then drive from library to library, collecting passport stamps and small prizes. Participants are asked to take a photo of themselves at each library along the way and use the tag #BerkshireLibraryCrawl2022. City Woman Wins Hometown Holidays Gift Basket |
Jonathan Secor had some help in pulling the winning ticket.
Congrats to Janet O'Neill of North Adams who won the big Hometown Holidays gift basket on Thursday. O'Neill won some $1,300 worth of gift certificates and merchandise.
The drawing could be entered by spending $50 downtown during the Thursday night Hometown Holiday events. Jonathan Secor of MCLA Gallery 51 said 62 people had entered the contest (including the editor of iBerkshires &mdash amazing how much cat toys cost nowadays).
