SteepleCats Silence Swamp Bats

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Kyle Salvati threw five hitless innings, and four North Adams pitchers combined on a two-hitter in a 6-0 win over the Keene Swamp Bats on Wednesday at Joe Wolfe Field.   Salvati struck out three and walked six in his start.   Brenden Morris, Thomas Sullivan and Johnny Ruggiero Jr. split the final four innings on the mound.   Billy Howard doubled to lead a four-hit attack for the SteepleCats, who worked seven walks and.

North Adams Road Closures for Emergency Response Drill

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Church Street will be closed from Hodges Cross Road to West Shaft Road on Thursday for an emergency drill at Drury High School.    North Adams Public Schools, in partnership with the Department of Public Safety and Northern Berkshire EMS, will conduct a full-scale, multi-agency emergency coordination drill to advance emergency planning and interagency collaboration.   That section of Church Street will be closed starting at 12:30 p.m. and is projected to re-open no later than 4 p.m.   Residents are encouraged to avoid the area around Drury High School on Thursday afternoon unless completely necessary. More than 80 Participate in Hoosic River Run/Walk

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Pittsfield’s Simeon Mercier and Kelly Maginnis were the top male and female finishers in the inaugural Hoosic River Run on Saturday at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.   Mercier clocked a 5-kilometer time of 20 minutes, 12.65 seconds to finish 49 seconds ahead of the field. North Adams' Greylock School Project Estimated $1M Under Budget

Accent color choices for the interior.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Greylock School budget is running about $1 million under budget as of the submission of 60 percent design documents.    Last year's funding agreement with the Massachusetts School Building Authority estimated the cost of the building at $53,405,500, the majority of the $65.4 million project. Post 125 Juniors Walk Off Win over Westfield

Jazzmeia Horn to Perform at Mass MoCA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Multi-award winning vocalist Jazzmeia Horn is scheduled to perform at Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art's Hunter Center on Saturday, June 28, at 8 p.m.

The performance will feature the group Black Nile.

This event is part of Mass MoCA's ongoing series showcasing contemporary jazz artists. Tickets are available for $29 in advance, $39 during the week of the performance, and $59 for preferred seating. Members will receive a 10 percent discount on tickets.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass — State Cafe has opened at 90 Main St.   State Cafe, a pop-up of State Food and Drink from Greylock Works, recently opened on Main Street, offering Vietnamese cuisine and beverages.   The pop-up cafe opened last summer as 328North and plans to remain open until September. It is offering similar fare, including Vietnamese-inspired dishes like banh mi sandwiches and noodle or rice bowls with a variety vegetables.   "We grow a lot of the food.
