 There's snow this weekend! It might be slushy but there's enough to pull out those sleds you got over the holidays. Head for the hills before it disappears again. Here is our list of sledding destinations: Clapp Park Pittsfield Every year Berkshire County residents can be seen flocking to Clapp Park, sleds in hand, to experience the thrill of sliding down the hill. It’s no surprise children drift to this park in the winter and many can be seen sliding down the hill with cardboard during the other seasons. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — 2nd Street, an organization supporting formerly incarcerated men and women in Berkshire County, has partnered with Community Legal Aid (CLA) to open additional office space in North Adams. Located at 33 Main Street, North Adams, the office suite will be shared with CLA, which currently uses the space as a satellite office. Beginning Feb. 1, 2023, 2nd Street will meet with clients by appointment only. Clients wishing to schedule an appointment may call (413) 443-7220, ext. 1275.  ADAMS, Mass. — The Board of Selectmen and town staff are conflicted on what to do with the coal and grain building off Columbia Street that will need significant funding for restoration. Community Development Director Eammon Coughlin came before the board on Wednesday to discuss the cost associated with a restoration. He said design work for stabilizing the building at 1 Cook St. would cost about $100,000, and going through with a stabilization project would cost significantly more. "The architect's current estimate for, essentially, just stabilizing the highest portion of the tower, the grain tower itself, is currently at around $700,000. And if we want

LEE, Mass. — Lee Bank Foundation has awarded $45,670 to ten Berkshire area organizations for their fourth-round of 2022 community funding. Recipients were awarded grants ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 to support their local programming. Included in the awards are a series of Arts Access Grants for arts and culture organizations to expand access to programming for underserved audiences. The National Weather Service has declared a winter weather advisory for Berkshire County beginning Thursday, Jan. 19, from 11 am to Friday, Jan. 20, at 7 pm. Accuweather predicts that snow should begin around 5 pm on Thursday, and it will continue throughout the day Saturday. Snow is predicted to continue through the weekend into Monday, Jan. 23. Expect mixed precipitation with a total snow accumulation of 3 to 7 inches. Ice accumulation could be up to an inch. Plan for slippery roads and hazardous conditions. PITTSFIELD, Mass. — 1Berkshire, thanks to a one-time grant award, announced that they are accepting applications for a second year of the Best Foot Forward Facade Improvement Micro-Grant program. In 2022, this program provided 31 small businesses and organizations across the Berkshires with facade improvement grants of up to $1,000, helping not only to improve individual storefronts, but to improve the aesthetics of our downtown commercial districts in the region. In 2023, this program returns and is expanded. NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The School Department is preparing five components for its application to the Massachusetts School Building Authority for the Brayton/Greylock project. The consultants on the project updated the School Building Committee on those factors on Tuesday and Matthew Sturz of owner's project manager Colliers International reviewed the timeline and budget to date. Julia McFadden of TSKP Studio said the reports would be submitted by April 26 to move the project into the preliminary design phase. For many years, we've maintained our community with little economic growth. It has not been for lack of effort. And now, smart people from many different backgrounds have uncovered what we all knew — Adams is special! The founders of the Project 13 1/2 Grove Gallery and Real Eyes Gallery know it, as does Yina Moore, who has breathed new life into the Adams Theater, a revitalization effort started by our Topia Arts friends.
Our Greylock Glen trail partners DCR and TSR contribute to Adams by maintaining and expanding our trails. The outdoor center is being built, after years of hard work from our Community Development Director Donna Cesan, our town administrator(s)

ADAMS, Mass. — The Woodlands Partnership of Northwest Massachusetts is looking for new leadership from its member municipalities to fill officer positions, including chair and vice chair.
The board discussed leadership succession at its executive committee meeting last week. Current Chair Henry Art has said he would like to remain involved but step down as the chair.
The partnership's bylaws require the chair to be one of the board's representatives from a member municipality. Art said there has been little interest in the positions.
