Berkshire Farmers Markets Receive Grants

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Berkshire Agricultural Ventures (BAV) has awarded $100,000 in grants to nine Berkshire area farmers markets to support SNAP matching programs.    In Berkshire County North Adams Farmers Market, Pittsfield Farmers Market, West Stockbridge Farmers Market, Lee Farmers Market, Great Barrington Farmers Market and Sheffield Farmers Market received grants.   "When we started farming, it was important for us to be able to produce great food for more than just a narrow segment of our community," said Michael Gallagher of Square Roots Farm (Lanesborough). Husband Arrested in Murder of Jillian Rosado

DA Andrea Harrington says further details about the case will be impounded during the investigation. Luis Rosado is being held on one count of murder.  PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Luis Rosado, 49, was arraigned Thursday afternoon on a count of murder in Central Berkshire District Court in the murder of his wife of five months, Jillian Tatro Rosado. He is being held without bail.    Rosado is charged with stabbing his 38-year-old wife to death on Saturday night in an apartment they shared at 46 Charles St. in North Adams.   Jillian Rosado's body was discovered on Sunday night.    Luis Rosado was taken into custody at about 8:30 Thursday morning at a

Clarksburg Has Full Select Board With Election of Norcross, Haskins

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — The town now has a full Select Board after Tuesday's election of Robert Norcross and Daniel Haskins.    The town's been without a board since late March, when then Chair Danielle Luchi resigned to apply for the vacant town treasurer's post. She was hired after the job was posted and 30 days after her resignation, as required by law. Prior to that, Luchi was the sole board member for more than a month until Jeffrey Levanos was elected in a special town election in December.    The lack of board members at various times over the last seven or eight months has prevented town government from operating normally. Clarksburg Annual Town Meeting Set Wednesday

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Voters will decide the new complement of the Select Board on Tuesday and decide a very slim warrant at the annual town meeting on Wednesday.    The town's had mostly one or two Select Board members over the past seven months because of three resignations. Cheshire Woman Victim of Sunday Night Murder; Husband Charged

Luis Angel Rosado, 50, has had a murder charge filed against him in Northern Berkshire District in the death of his wife, Jillian Rosado. The file has been impounded and no further information has been made available. The Berkshire Eagle reports that Jillian Rosado sought an abuse prevention order against her husband in March. A Luis Rosado was charged with domestic violence in 2020 and sentence to a year in the Berkshire County House of Corrections.    The Berkshire District Attorney's Office confirmed it had obtained an arrest warrant for Luis Rosado. Police are working on locating and bringing Rosado into custody and request anyone with information about his whereabouts

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The Mayor's Fitness Challenge (MFC) will return after a two year break in the month of June.    This will be the 6th Annual MFC for North Adams. In past years, the challenge expanded into a challenge between the cities of Pittsfield and North Adams, but this year the challenge will only be in North Adams and will only span the month of June.   This year's challenge is coordinated by the Coalition's Health & Wellness Coordinator, Jessi Byrne, who hopes the community can come together with the common goal of increasing the health and wellness of the city.   Participants will be working to build and track points by eating fruits
