NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — On Aug. 24, Antonio Laboy, 26 of Springfield, was arrested during a traffic stop by the North Adams Police Department involving two vehicles. According to a report from the District Attorney's Office, the traffic stop was made on the grounds of an active investigation into drug trafficking in North County. The stops occurred on Church Street in North Adams, shortly after the vehicles crossed from Adams into North Adams. Laboy was a passenger in one of the vehicles at the time of the stop. Laboy is an alleged drug trafficker who has been traveling back and forth to Berkshire County from Springfield Massachusetts. The vehicles involved 0 Comments

NORTH ADAMS, Mass—LEAD Academy, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts (MCLA)'s almost two-decade-old program to help new students integrate into college life, is getting a boost from Greylock Federal Credit Union (Greylock). Greylock has pledged $100,000 to support a reimagined Greylock LEAD Academy, allowing the program to grow from around 30 MCLA students each year to this fall's cohort of 200 participants.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — COVID-19 has been making a resurgence around the state. There were more than 2,000 new cases in Massachusetts in the past seven days and University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester is mandating employees mask around patients after a jump in COVID-19 positive employees. iBekshire stopped posting weekly updates on the virus back in March. That last post had the number of positives reported statewide that week as 2,612, a number that had continued to decline along with hospitalizations.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Pending a vote next Tuesday, the North Adams Public Schools will go forward with two elementary programs. The policy subcommittee on Thursday morning voted unanimously on an organization of instruction policy that creates a new grade configuration of early elementary (prekindergarten through Grade 2) and upper elementary (Grades 3-6) in addition to the secondary program of Grades 7-12. The only other option was to stay with the current secondary and preK-6 program.
