After days of rain, the Berkshires are in store for some consistent sun, albeit with the occasional Thunderstorm.   Today Wednesday, July5, expect a high of 88. The skies will stay mostly sunny with a possible thundershower this afternoon, reports Accuweather.    Expect the same thing Thursday, with humidity increasing into Friday, July 7. The high will be 85.   On Saturday, July8, expect a high of 85 with mostly cloudy skies and high humidity. There is a possibility of an afternoon thunderstorm, says Accuweather.   Sunday will be cloudy and humid with showers. Reynolds' Homer Gives SteepleCats Road Split

KEENE, N.H. -- Jack Reynolds hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth, and the North Adams SteepleCats Monday came from behind to earn a 6-4 win and salvage a double-header split with the Swamp Bats in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.   Keene took the opener, 9-4, and had a 4-1 lead after 3-1/2 innings of the seven-inning contest.   But North Adams scored twice in the fourth and got Reynolds' homer in the sixth to take the lead.   Reynolds finished 2-for-2 with four RBIs.   Kyle Hannon doubled in a pair of runs in the fourth.   Will Tobin earned the win on the mound, strikout out four and allowing no runs in 2-2/3 innings of

Harrington Sinks Late Game-Winner in Giorgi League

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Ricky Harrington hit a game-winning jump shot with five seconds left on Sunday to give Northern Berkshire Sports Academy a 50-49 win over Central Radio in the B Division of the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League at the Armory.   Harrington finished with 16 points and five rebounds for NBSA, which got a game-high 19 poitns and seven boards from Brian Dowling.   Central Radio's Seth Shepard tied for game-high honors with 19 points. Dave Willington scored nine points and pulled down 16 rebounds.   In Sunday's other game, Jorge Bond scored 28 points to lead Pizza House/Drury High School to a 75-64 win over the Saboteurs.   Myles Beauchamp

SteepleCats Drop Double-Header at Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury Westerners held off a late North Adams rally for a Game 1 win and went on to a double-header sweep in the New Engand Collegiate Baseball League on Saturday.   In the opener, North Adams scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the Westerners were able to close the door for a 9-7 win.   Kyle Hannon and Hudson Polk each homered for the SteepleCats in the loss.   In Game 2, North Adams scored three times in the top of the third to take the lead.   But the Westerners tied the game in the bottom of the frame and pulled ahead in the fourth to take a 4-3 win.   Jake Reinisch homered for North Adams, which got two innings of

Rose Homers as North Adams Wins Fourth Straight

WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. -- Cedric Rose homered and drove in a pair of runs Friday as the North Adams SteepleCats beat the Upper Valley Nighthawks in the New England Collegiate Baseball League.   The Taconic High School graduate raised his batting average to .273 in three games this season for the SteepleCats as North Adams won its fourth straight game.   Samuel Tackett went 2-for-4 with a home run and six RBIs, and Tremayne Cobb Jr. went 3-for-4 in a 14-hit attack.   Nathaniel Chudy struck out nine and allowed one run in five innings to earn the win on the mound.   North Adams (5-12) goes to Danbury, Conn., for a double-header on Saturday.

Junior Rangers Program at Mount Greylock

LANESBOROUGH, Mass. — Mount Greylock State Reservation announced the Junior Ranger program for children ages 8-12.

The program is free and is held at Mount Greylock State Reservation, Pittsfield State Forest, Clarksburg State Park, Natural Bridge State Park, Savoy Mountain State Forest, and Mohawk Trail State Forest, on specific Thursdays in July and August from 10:00am to noon. 

Space is limited to fifteen participants. All participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

North County Reacts With Excitement, Cautious Optimism to Hospital News

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — There was one group that refused to give up on the North Adams Regional Hospital for years.    The North County Cares Coalition, made up of residents and former employees at the hospital, advocated at first weekly and, as time went on, every anniversary since 2014 to keep the idea of the hospital alive.    Even when no one seemed to be listening. BHS Makes Plans to Reopen North Adams Regional Hospital

A section of Second North was closed off and the patient rooms mothballed when Berkshire Health Systems took over in 2014.  NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Turns out North Adams Regional Hospital has been on life support the last nine years.    The hospital closed in 2014 but Berkshire Health Systems is hoping to resuscitate the dormant medical center and reopen up to 25 inpatient beds.   And return the name of "North Adams Regional Hospital."    Darlene Rodowicz, BHS president and CEO, said Wednesday that the health system has been working with Health and Human Services Secretary Kate Walsh and Gov. Museum Set to Open in Lee, Seeks Volunteers

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. -- Dave Wellington scored 31 points Wednesday to lead PhoneBros to a 95-90 win over Cold Hearts in the John Giorgi Summer Basketball League A Division.   Julius Woods scored 30 and grabbed 14 rebounds, and Mike Taylor had a double-double with 17 poitns and 13 boards.   Sean Harrigan led Cold Hearts with 26 points and 10 rebounds.   Shaq Ardrey and Tank Roberson added 23 and 17 points, respectively.
