BELCHERTOWN, Mass. – The North Adams Post 125 Juniors split an American Legion Baseball double-header at Belchertown by matching 9-8 scores.
In the first game, North Adams built a 9-2 lead and held on after the hosts scored four in the fifth and two in the seventh.
Carson Dix went 2-for-3 with an RBI and Maddox Cooke was 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the opener.
Cooke also struck out seven in 4 and a third innings on the mound before giving the ball to Jack Marlowe. Emery Roitter finished up with a scoreless seventh.
In the nightcap, North Adams scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning to take an 8-7 lead after trailing by as many as five runs.
But Belchertown rallied for two runs in the bottom of the seventh, ending the game on Matthew Harrington’s RBI single with one out and the bases loaded.
Rotter went 3-for-4 with a double in the loss. He also took a turn on the mound for Post 125, along with Michael Hartman, Kieran Johnson and Dix.
North Adams Post 125 (9-4) hosts Greenfield Post 81 on Tuesday evening at Joe Wolfe Field.
