Queen came in as a stray and is looking for her forever home.
Queen loves to go for walks but is also enjoys some quiet time.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — There's a dog at No Paws Left Behind searching for a kingdom that will treat her like the Queen that she is.
iBerkshire's Companion Corner is a weekly series spotlighting an animal in our local shelters that is ready to find a home.
Queen is an 8-year-old French bulldog mix. She has been at the shelter since March.
"We always say she's very spunky," said shelter manager Noelle Howland.
"She's very easy going, like, when she's indoors, she loves like, she'll just lay right down if you give her, like, a Kong (a chew toy that holds treats), or anything that has food on it. She is obsessed with food."
Queen also loves to be outdoors and could explore the world for a long time.
"She loves walking. She will literally walk all day, to the point where you have to bring her back, to like bring her back in, but I think she literally will keep going with you, and then the second that she's in, she just crashes and lays right down. So she's the ideal, perfect mix."
Howland says Queen gets very energetic and excited with other dogs so she'd be better as an only dog or with an easy-going dog. It's known how she would be with cats.
"She's OK with dogs. I would prefer to send her home as the only dog, just because she doesn't understand that she's a little much when she plays with dogs. I think if she were to go home, I would be open to trying, a male dog with her," she said. "I think the dog would have to be very easy going, because she likes to get to the extreme, and doesn't realize she's being a little too much."
She'd probably do best around children 8 years and older because of her intensity around food. Howland said she could jump on smaller children or knock them over, "because the second she knows you have food, it's like, game over."
Queen is house trained and up to date on all her shots and veterinary visits.
She was brought to the shelter by the city's animal control office so her background is unknown.
If you think Queen could be your new companion, she is ready for you and her age won't slow her down.
"I just think, because she's 8, I just tell people, I think you have to meet her to really understand that she does not act her age," said Howland. "She will be the perfect mix of a dog that will just go, go, go with you, and then the second that you're done and you want to relax, she does the same thing. So I think just she's 100 percent worth it to meet [her], because you'll get to really see her personality, and she's very fun dog."
