MASS MoCA Winter/Spring 2025 Season Celebrates 25th Anniversary

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – MASS MoCA announced its programming for the Winter/Spring 2025 season, which coincided with the museum's 25th anniversary.
 
The season featured performance activations of Jeffrey Gibson’s exhibition "POWER FULL BECAUSE WE’RE DIFFERENT" by Laura Ortman, a survey of work by Vincent Valdez titled "Just a Dream..." (co-presented with Contemporary Arts Museum Houston), an evening with Fran Lebowitz, and concerts by Ani DiFranco, slowdive, Dave Guy, and Angélica Garcia.
 
Exhibitions that opened on February 1, 2025, included "Dirty & Disorderly: Contemporary Artists on Disgust," featuring Anna Ting Möller, New Red Order, and Nguy?n Duy M?nh, and "Ohan Breiding: Belly of a Glacier," co-organized by the Williams College Museum of Art and MASS MoCA. Alison Pebworth’s "Cultural Apothecary" began its physical manifestation in February 2025. Vincent Valdez’s "Just a Dream..." opened on May 24, 2025.
 
"In Conversation" events featured Steve Locke with curator Evan Garza, Alison Pebworth with curator Alexandra Foradas, and Petra Szilagyi and Bayo Akomolafe.
 
Performances and film screenings included slowdive on January 31, Dave Guy on February 28, Angélica Garcia on March 22, Ani DiFranco on April 25, "An Evening with Fran Lebowitz" on March 15, "The Center Will Not Hold" by Ephrat Asherie and Michelle Dorrance on February 8, "When I'm Alone: David Lang in Amy Podmore's Audience" on February 22, and "DaddyAF: Waiting for Peter Pan" by David Roussève on May 3.
 
MASS MoCA Artist Residency engagements included "No Rule Is Our Rule with Eiko Otake" on February 1, and Open Studios events on February 6 and February 22. Randi Malkin Steinberger’s "The Archive of Lost Memories" was on view from April 5 to June 29.
 
Public programs included the Black Feminist Book Club sessions on February 13 and April 10, "Story Hour: Road to Hybridabad and Open House" on April 5, Slow Art Day on April 12, and "In Conversation: Petra Szilagyi & Bayo Akomolafe" on April 12. Co-presented author talks with the North Adams Public Library featured Howard Fishman on April 9. Seth Rogovoy's talk was scheduled for May 7.
 
Member programming included Member Appreciation Month in March and exhibition celebrations and curator tours.
 
Workshops included Assets for Artists Workshops throughout the season and an "Artist Workshop: Stop-Motion with Shayna Strype" on May 3.
 
Kids and families programs included Family Storytime, School Break Kidspace Workshops from February 17–21 and April 21–25, and the Teen Invitational Reception on April 17.
 
A community Free Day took place on January 25, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., featuring artist talks, workshops, performances, and art-making activities.
 
Ticketed events went on sale to MASS MoCA members on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at 12 p.m. EST and to the general public on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10 a.m. EST.
