The Big E
Eastern States Exposition, Springfield
Time: Sept. 15 to Oct. 1
New England's biggest fair kicks off Friday at 8 a.m. and runs through the end of the month. The fair features goods from all six New England states, specialty days, crafts, demonstrations, activities, agriculture, horse shows, giant pumpkins, beer gardens, a parade, carnival rides, so much food, and performances including John Fogerty, Bachman Turner Overdrive, Molly Hatchet, Gaelic Storm and Third Eye Blind.
Tickets range from $20 and $12 a day to full passes and group admissions. Special performances priced separately.

Emo Night
Hot Plate Brewing Co., Pittsfield
Time: 7 p.m.
Local and regional bands and performers will be performing at the brewery. There will be a $10 cover charge.
The lineup includes emo and rock bands Sinking, Arms Like Roses,Every Branch, and Velveteen. There will also be a spoken word poetry performance by Chris Hantman.
Weekly Friday Night Jazz

This celebration concert features more than a dozen of Motown hits by performers who have shared the stage with famous Motown artists including the Temptations, Smokey Robinson, the Supremes, Marvin Gaye and more.
Canna Provisions Live Music
Locker Room Sports Pub, Lee
Time: 7 p.m.
There will be a live performance by local musician Brian Benlein. The show is presented by Canna Provisions.
Food Truck Pete-Za and Live Music
Big Elm Brewing, Sheffield
Time: noon to 7 p.m.
The Pete-za Mobile will be at the brewery. Starting at 4:30, there will be a performance by Appalachian Americana and folk-rock musician Trae Sheehan.
Hike To Flag Rock Vista
Monument Mountain, Great Barrington
Time: 10 a.m.
Author and photographer Christy Butler will lead a three-hour hike to Flag Rock Vista alongside
Western Mass Hilltown Hikers Elizabeth Massa and Karen McTaggart.
The hike will pass through the mountain's lower boulder field that will require short side-trips off the main trail.

History Walk
Hancock Shaker Village, Pittsfield
Time: 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.
Village staff will lead an easy to moderate hike of the museum's Farm & Forest Trail to explore the history of land, landscape, indigenous presence, and the Shakers' time there. The route will also include a stop at the South Family.

Stop by the brewery to taste its fresh batch of the brewery's Munich-styled festbier Brightoberfest then swing by Bigg Daddy's for live music and a special menu featuring brats, sauerkraut, and potato salad.

New York jazz guitarist Chad McLoughlin will be performing alongside bassist Rich Syracuse and drummer Jeff Siegel.
