NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — The fire chief is on paid administrative leave following his involvement in a pedestrian accident on Thursday morning.
The pedestrian, a woman, was taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield; a relative posted on Facebook that she was hospitalized with "a skull fracture and had bleeding in her brain."
Mayor Jennifer Macksey said on Friday that Brent Lefebvre is on paid leave "pending investigation."
The accident occurred at approximately 8:23 a.m. on Thursday on River Street near the Veazie Street intersection.
Lefebvre was in a city vehicle and the pedestrian was apparently crossing River Street from the north side when he struck her.
"It was an unfortunate accident," the mayor said, adding that a report on the incident was expected to be ready by early next week. She said she hoped the pedestrian would fully recover.
The pedestrian was initially taken to BMC North before being transported to Pittsfield. Identified as Jess Lyn Foley, she posted Friday on Facebook that "I'm fine all."
