DANBURY, Conn. -- The Danbury Westerners held off a late North Adams rally for a Game 1 win and went on to a double-header sweep in the New Engand Collegiate Baseball League on Saturday.

 

In the opener, North Adams scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning, but the Westerners were able to close the door for a 9-7 win.

 

Kyle Hannon and Hudson Polk each homered for the SteepleCats in the loss.

 

In Game 2, North Adams scored three times in the top of the third to take the lead.

 

But the Westerners tied the game in the bottom of the frame and pulled ahead in the fourth to take a 4-3 win.

 

Jake Reinisch homered for North Adams, which got two innings of hitless relief on the mound from Cole Wisenbaker.

 

The SteepleCats (6-14) come home Sunday to host the Bristol Blues.
