The line was opened on North Eagle for repairs. The area under the sidewalk had also collapsed.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — A broken sewer main on North Eagle Street sent a cascade of sewage into the Hoosic River on Monday.

City workers had fixed the broken pipe shortly after noontime Tuesday.

Commissioner of Public Services Timothy Lescarbeau said the 6-inch main had collapsed in front of 280 Eagle St.

"The break was opened up and flow diverted back into the sanitary sewer system," he wrote early Tuesday morning.

The line picks up all the houses along the street and Clarksburg.

It's estimated more than 10,000 gallons of sewage went into the storm drains and out into the river at Eagle and River street.
