WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.— MCLA's Randy Adams went 3-for-6 with a pair of doubles and five RBIs, leading the Trailblazers to an 11-4 victory over Williams College on Thursday.
Adams has 47 RBIs on the season, which currently leads the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference and is a program single-season record. With the win MCLA improves to 10-25 on the year while Williams ends its season with a 13-17 mark.
Trailing 3-0 in the top of the fifth, a two-RBI double from Clarence Givhans (2-for-4) which scored Austin Rachiele (4-for-5, three runs scored) and Michael Wormuth (1-for-3). An Adams groundout brought Givhans home and tied the game, 3-3.
A Noel Medina (2-for-5, RBI) sacrifice fly and a pair of base hits from Ty Mazzeo (3-for-5, RBI) and Aidan Brett (1-for-1, 2 RBIs) pushed MCLA ahead by four in the top of the seventh before Williams got one back in the home-half to make it 7-4.
A two-RBI single in the eighth and a two-RBI double in the made it 11-4, gave Adams the MCLA record and preserved
the program's first in over Williams since April 14, 2011.
The Trailblazers used eight pitchers who collectively held the Ephs to nine hits while striking out four batters. Garrett Brunette (1-2) was credited with the win.
MCLA will wrap up its 2023 campaign this weekend with a three-game series scheduled to begin Friday at Salem State and concluding Saturday with a doubleheader in North Adams.
