NORTH ADAMS, Mass. – Alexyss Gancarz and Kylee Mazza each homered Monday to lead the Adams-Cheshire-Savoy Swat to a 23-7 win over the Greylock Thunder in the 10-and-Under Division of the Berkshire County Fastpitch Softball League.

Tenley Biros, Olivia Archambeault and Gancarz combined to strike out 14 in the five-inning win at Francis Millard Field.

Although the final score does not show it, the game started out as a back-and-forth affair.

Archambault singled in a two-run first inning for the visiting Swat.

But the Thunder struck back with two runs of their own in the bottom of the frame, taking advantage of back-to-back walks from Ava Ruiz and Braylee Todd at the top of the lineup.

ACS retook the lead in the top of the second.

It capitalized on a couple of walks, an error and an infield single by Gancarz to go ahead, 5-2.

Again, the Thunder had the answer, scoring four runs on three hits in the bottom of the second.

Isa Giraldo, Paige and Lilliana Arnold each singled as Greylock rallied to take a 6-5 lead.

ACS then scored six runs in each of the next three innings – hitting the maximum allowed runs in the third and fourth innings of the instructional league.

Mazza hit the inning’s first inside-the-park home run to drive in Skyana Field, who reached with a leadoff single. Gancarz ended the inning with a round-tripper to plate Zoey Shepard.

Archambeault, Field and Evelyn Richardson singled in a six-run fourth.

In the fifth, the Swat players did the work with their legs, using five walks and two stolen bases and taking advantage of some pitches to the backstop to round out their scoring.

The Thunder picked up its seventh run in the fourth inning. Bayleigh Tatro reached when she was hit by a pitch, moved up on a couple of pitches to the backstop and scored when Bridget Holland reached on a dropped third strike.

Greylock used two pitchers in the loss.

Arnold struck out 11 in four innings of work. Ruiz started the fifth, and Arnold returned to the circle to pick up two more strikeouts for a total of 13 in the game.

The ACS Swat is back in action on Tuesday at Reid Field against the Berkshire Force. The Thunder plays the Force on Thursday at the Doyle Complex in Pittsfield.
