WORCESTER, Mass. -- The top-seeded Worcester State volleyball team dropped the first set but rallied past the fourth-seeded MCLA Trailblazers, 3-1, Thursday in the MASCAC semifinals.
The Lancers (11-15) advance to the conference championship on Saturday, when they'll host No. 3 Framingham State, a 3-2 winner over Westfield State in the semi-finals.
MCLA (12-12) took the opening set 25-23 and looked well on their way to jumping out to a 2-0 lead, but the Lancers rallied from an 11-4 deficit in the second set with a 13-1 run and never looked back, taking the second 25-17 before winning 25-22 in each of the last two games.
Chloe Garber and Kelly Moczulski led the MCLA offense, with 16 and 15 kills, respectively. Each of them had a double-double, as together they combined for 29 digs.
All seven players that took the court for the Trailblazers recorded a kill, with many of them set up by Natasha Stewart, who had 38 assists as well as 17 digs.
The match marked the final game in the Trailblazer careers of Reagan Scattergood, Natasha Stewart, Becket's Kelsey LaFreniere, and Giselle Arredondo.
