PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Berkshire Community College (BCC) welcomes artist Nicole Irene for an exhibit in the Koussevitzky Art Gallery called "Endanger Your Complacency by Tempting the Lumps in the Cosmic Gravy."
The exhibit will be on view Wednesday, Sept. 8 through Friday, October 8. Gallery hours are weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm.
On Friday, Oct. 1 from 5-7 pm, the artist will host a reception as part of Downtown Pittsfield Inc.'s First Fridays Artswalk. Light refreshments will be served. The artist will be actively creating art during the reception, and limited-run prints will be available for purchase.
According to the artist, the show is a behind-the-scenes look into her process of "creating with the humble yet profound circle shape, which has always enchanted the human mind."
Canvases in various stages of completion will be on view, as well as experimental new works on paper.
"I am still formulating the explanation for this entire body of work, but the impetus derives from communication, technology, biology and the cosmos," Nicole Irene said.
The Koussevitzky Art Gallery, located in the theatre lobby near the box office, is open to the public and offers exhibits by professional artists from the United States and abroad. Several shows are mounted each semester. In addition, student artwork is exhibited in the Koussevitzky lobby throughout the year.
