SANFORD, Maine -- The North Adams SteepleCats Friday split a road double-header against the Mainers.

 

In the opener, Jon Kozarian went 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored a run in a 4-1 win.

 

Samuel Bennett threw three innings of one-hit relief to earn the win on the mound.

 

In the nightcap, the Mainers jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second and went on to a 9-3 win.

 

Turner Grau went 2-for-3 and drove in a run for the SteepleCats. Peyton Wilson was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs in four innings on the mound.

 

North Adams (9-8-2) is home on Sunday for the annual Fourth of July game at Joe Wolfe Field. Vermont is in town for a 6 p.m. first pitch with fireworks to follow.
