BOSTON — State Sen. Adam G. Hinds is co-hosting a virtual town hall discussion on jail-based and felony disenfranchisement in Massachusetts.
The event, scheduled for 6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 30, is being hosted in partnership with Devin McCourty of the New England Patriots, Jason McCourty, the Democracy Behind Bars Coalition, and Boston state Reps. Chynah Tyler and Elizabeth Miranda.
The forum will focus on voting rights for convicted individuals and the movement to ensure democracy and voting rights are upheld in prisons and jails.
Hinds and the McCourteys, twins who both play professional football (Jason plays for the Tennessee Titans), will lead the discussion with invited panelists and guests. The brothers host a podcast, "Double Coverage," which has taken up racism, equity and other social ills in addition to football talk. They were named as finalists for the Muhammad Ali Sports Humanitarian Award in 2020.
The event is free and open to the public. Attendees may RSVP here and receive a link to the discussion.
