LACONIA, N.H. -- Benjamin Kailher hit a grand slam in the bottom of the eighth to break open a close game and send the Winipesaukee Muskrats on to a 6-1 win over the North Adams SteepleCats in the season opener for both teams on Thursday.
Jeremy Lea homered for North Adams in the top of the fourth for the 'Cats first run and first lead of the 2021 campaign.
Starting pitcher Brian Zeldin struck out four and allowed just one run in four innings of work.
Monument Mountain graduate Jared Henry worked two innings of relief.
North Adams (0-1) is at Joe Wolfe Field on Saturday for the first time since 2019 for its home opener against North Shore.
